First Grade Long a Project

1. First GradeLong aProject • You will log into Power Point and choose a template for both text and images • Choose the one that looks like a 3 layer cake with a line on top, pictures in the middle, and lines on the bottom • Click on it • Your first slide will be the title and who it is by.

3. What to put in the top layer • Choose a long a rule; a_e, ai, or ay • Choose a word that uses that rule • Type the rule in the top layer and hit “enter” then type the word that you chose. • I chose a word with the a_e pattern for long a. For example rake.

What to put into the middle layer • Click into the middle layer and go to the bottom where the little picture of a person is, click into “Clip art”. • Go to the right side and type in rake and click “go”. • Pick your choice of images and place it into the middle. You may have to adjust the size.

7. What to put into the bottom layer • Click into the bottom layer and write a sentence about your rake picture. • Remember how to make a capital at the beginning, how to make finger spaces, and how to make a period.

9. Getting another slide When you are done with your slide, go to the top and click “insert” (that means to put something in), it will give you lots of choices. Pull your arrow down to the first choice “new slide” and click on it. You are ready for your new slide.

10. How many slides do I have to make? • Each long a rule should have two slides. • If you want more, you can put in more after you make two each. • There will be 6 slides in all. More if you want.
