Purpose of the Review Survey of universal screening and progress tools currently being used by LEAs in Iowa Review these tools for technical adequacy Incorporate one tool into new state data system Provide access to tools for all LEAs in state Found a lot of variation across the state First checked NCRTI tools charts, but many in use across the state not submitted. Also needed to make evaluative judgments about characteristics considered descriptive such as cost and time of administration because… Will include access to a tool at each grade level, but not necessarily the tool from the same publisher at each grade level. approximately 500,000 K-12 students in Iowa. A cost of more than $3/student is a recurring cost of $1.5 million. Many educators already are concerned about spending too much time testing.
