Recruiting Alternatives - Retained Search or “Search” • fee typically 1/3 of first year’s compensation • normally 1/3 when the assignment is given • 1/3 after 30 days & final 1/3 after 60 days • expenses paid - average 15% of the fee • total cost about 38 1/2% • fee paid regardless of placement • pickups are another fee (at least 1/2 fee)

Recruiting Alternatives - Hourly fee based search • pay for the level of effort used based on hourly rates • expenses paid - typically low compared to retained percentage search • if required effort is low, client benefits from lower cost • B/WA provides a fee “cap” equivalent to traditional retained search • “pickups” have no incremental cost
