  6. Math Changes/Updates • Pre-Algebra being offered in 7th grade • Algebra I earning high school credit in 8th grade • Admission to both based on: • Teacher recommendation • Standardized test scores • Readiness test given in May Math Teacher Describes Differences

Guidelines for Math Course Selection (Handout) • Alabama High School Diploma requires students to earn FOUR credits in math. • Of those four credits, students must complete: • Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, or their equivalent.Equivalents: Algebra IA & IB equivalent to Algebra I • The math course a student begins with determines all math options to follow. • Once a student starts this math sequence, he/she cannot go back & take a lower level math. *See Options on Handout: Option 1 finishes with the highest math possible with each subsequent option slightly lower

  8. Registration Forms • Teachers must sign their recommendation • Parents and students must sign bottom of form • Electives: must number 1st-4th choice • Registration Form 8th 14-15.doc • Registration Form 7th 14-15.doc

  9. Verification Forms • List of the classes requested in February/March • Given out April 21st • Opportunity at this time to make changes • If making changes, will be due back no later than May 2nd • If no changes, do nothing with form

  10. Schedule Change Request Forms • Form available from counselors • Must include parents signature/any teachers signatures • March-April 18 request change for no fee using this form • April 21-May 2 use verification form to request changes • May 5-June 6 request change but subject to administrator approval and $10 fee using this form • Recommended Course Waiver Forms available during this time • No requests honored after June 6 without principal *NO REQUEST CHANGES HONORED VIA PHONE/EMAIL
