What Is An Ant? • An ant is an insect. • It has 3 body parts. • It has 6 legs. • It has 2 antennae. • There are many different types of ants: Carpenter ants, Weaver ants, Leafcutter ants, Red ants, Black ants, Farmer ants, Army ants, and many more www.armyants.org/images/ nyensis/nyensistop640.jpg

Where Do Ants Live? • Ants live and work together in groups called colonies. • Ants live in underground nests with many other ants. • These underground nests are called anthills. • Ants make their anthills by digging tunnels and carrying the dirt to the outside. • Some ants also nest in rotten wood. www.alef.co.uk/photos/ urban75/may04.html
