The Drink Up Life Long Batch No. 1234Z Unauthorized readers will be prosecuted
Problem with the water • Grey and white solid found in water • yellow liquid on top of the water • Strong alcohol smell
Grey solid • The magnets on the desk keep attracting to the grey solids Our Hypothesise: The grey solids are made of magnetic materials
Solution to grey solid • We can make use of the magnetic properties of the grey solids to remove Them • We will use giant electromagnets and remove the solids by placing the magnets above the tank of water
White solids • The white solids are in the water, not dissolving Our hypothesise: The white solids are insoluble, thus we can use secret method X
Solution to white solids • As the solids are clearly visible in the water, which prove that they are insoluble, we can use filtration(Secret method X). • We will get a big tank with a layers of filter paper, and slowly empty the water into the tank. We will get a wire gauze to support the filter paper.
Yellow liquid • A layer of yellow liquid is found on top of the water, not mixing with the water Our hypothesise: The yellow liquid is of a different density as compared to the water, so we can use our secret weapon.
Solution to yellow liquid • As the yellow liquid is of a different density as compared to the water, we can use the property of it to separate the two. • We will make a large tank and we will fill it with the liquid and let the water flow out from the base, leaving the contaminant behind.
Strong alcohol smell • There is a strong alcohol smell in the water, so the water might be mixed with alcohol Our hypothesise: We can use the power of heat to remove the alcohol
Solution to alcohol smell • As we suspect that the alcohol smell comes from the alcohol that is mixed with the water. • We will heatthe water to 68 to 78 degrees Celsius, so as to evaporate the alcohol, but retain the water.
For safety precautious • For safety measures, so as to remove any other unidentified pollutants, we will use distillation to distillate the water, in order to obtain pure and clean water.
Is it advisable to do this? • We do not think that the company should still sell the mineral water as some pollutants do not have smell and other obvious properties. • They should instead discard it but purify the water so that aquatic life is not harmed after the water is discarded.
