Summary of the Project • Project Title: Better Education for Africa’s Rise (BEAR) • Beneficiary: 5 SADC countries • Donor: The Republic of Korea • Duration: 5 years (2011 – 2015) • Budget: Min. 1,000,000 USD per year (overall) • 2011: 1,000,000 USD The first large development cooperation initiative from Korean government in education in Africa

Overview of BEAR Project • Objectives • UNESCO Priority Africa: To support SADC countries’ commitment to revitalize TVET • To support UNESCO’s TVET strategy (2010-2015) and to achieve EFA goals • Expected Outcomes • To contribute to poverty reduction and economic growth by fostering the development of quality workers
