CIRTL@Howard Program Goals • To impact the preparation of Howard graduate students for their future role as faculty (e.g. understand pillars, see teaching as scholarship). • To enhance the integration of programming across campus related to the preparation of graduate students for the academy. • To increase the presence of teaching-as-research (TAR) in faculty work at Howard. • To institutionalize CIRTL-at-Howard into the university structure.

CIRTL@Howard Program Goal Objectives • Goal 1 • Increased interest in pursuing jobs in the academy; • Increased understanding and use of TAR principles; • Increased understanding of the multiple dimensions of faculty work/responsibilities. • Goal 2 • Increase the exposure of PFF, AGEP and eventually all STEM graduate students to TAR process; • Find ways to extend CIRTL, especially TAR beyond specific fellowship programs. • Goal 3 • Element in tenure and promotion evaluation; merit/pay evaluation; • TAR is present in classrooms; • Awareness on campus of TAR. • Goal 4 • Establish an office/organizational identity on campus.

CIRTL@Howard Evaluation Strategies & Timeliness • Participant Surveys • Participant Enrollment • Voluntary Participation • Professor Involvement and Participation across Howard University Campus • Participant post-application of Technology in Teaching and Learning/ Matriculation into the Professoriate

  6. CIRTL@Howard Evaluation Issues • Graduate Progression within Respective Program • On-Going Program Developments • Survey Apathy • Promotion of CIRTL Relevancy
