Coal Gold and Silver • Produces electricity or heat through combustion. • It is used in electricity generation. • It is pulverized and then burned in a furnace. • You can also use them in cogeneration. Which is a way to create heat and electricity by using the same machine all at the same time. • When pulverized gives off carbon. • Gold is used as a way to trade for certain things you need. In most countries it is there form of money. It doesn’t definitely have to be in coin form, but any time of gold gives you money. • Silver: Many countries also used silver as there main money amount. Its also well used as silverware, or jewelry.
Pros and cons of Silver and Gold: Pros: Cons: • When you sell them, you can double the amount you paid so you get some money back, plus some. • When the economic is strong, you can sell these and gain lots of money. • From when you buy the silver and when you sell it, the price will go up guaranteed because it is a non renewable resource. • Proven to somewhat help with re leaving AIDS. • They are resistant of inflammation. • You need a place to store them, and you have to move them with a large hassle. • The government can take away your silver if they feel your are abusing your privilege. • You can buy the silver in which you think is authentic, but it really isn’t.
Coal Pros: Cons: • There is a lot of it, enough to go around comfortably. • It is very inexpensive. • It is versatile. • It gives off pollution. • It technically creates a health concern, because it pollutes the air quality. • Obviously, the last con is that it is non renewable.
What is the effect of the use of these resources on the earth? • Coal, it hurts the earth because of the mining. It doesn’t help the world, by taking away its non renewable resources. If you honestly think about it, its like taking your liver out of your body. You don’t die instantly , but eventually you will die. • Silver and Gold, are the same exact concept , If you take them out of the ground by mining them, eventually you will see a large change in the quantities of the material.
What is the effect of the use of these resources on organisms? Coal: Silver & Gold: • Release of methane gas • Causes climate change • Acid mine drainage • Radioactive contaminates • Tunnels • Rendering land • Waste products: • Uranium • Thorium • Heavy metal contaminates • Argyria with is a disease in which you get silver salts deposited into your skin, eyes, and internal organs. • Can help with sicknesses or infections, very harsh on your insides though. • Were known as blood purifiers, which was just slowly killing the people.
How are they turned into useful energy? Coal Silver & Gold: • By pulverizing it. • You can also put it in a boiler. • If you have too many ounces then the government will become suspicious, like if your crossing a major boarder. Dangers of transportation:
