FBU Annual Conference Decisions – Mainstreaming Union Learning • the remit of the Regional Education Officer to include Lifelong Learning…..this position becomes ‘Regional Education & Learning Organiser’ (RELO). The position filled in line with current union rules • during the transition ULF project staff continue to help and advise the union on lifelong learning matters – PSO’s working with RELOs • rule changes took place at AC 2010 to fully embed the above position and other appropriate changes to committee structure • that continued funding from central government and/or FRSs be further explored.
Project work undertaken • A National focus on embedding and mainstreaming Union Learning • ULF Project Support Organisers working with RELOs and Regions to help and support education and learning structures • Re-organisation of the FBU Learning Centres • Delivered H&S Level 2 distance learning course • Completed the new Education and Learning Website • Dyslexia Screening Tool and support training • Completed the Firefighter Apprenticeship review
National Learning Outcomes (2010 – 2012) • 5000 members / staff received advice • 1000 SfL and ICT learners • 500 ILM Level 2 and Level 3 courses • 90 pilot H&S Level 2 distance learning courses • 130 E&D Level 2 distance learning courses • 200 engaged with informal adult learning • 100 ULRs / Officials attended dyslexia awareness / screening training
