    8. It was our 1st step towards awareness about celebrating festivals in eco-friendly manner. Event for awareness about use of natural colours for Ecofriendly Holi / Rangpanchami was organised in Mantralaya Campus With the Support of Social Forestry Department Natural colours were made available. Remarkable Response Received. Activity appreciated by Secretaries & Officers of Mantralaya.

    10. Information stall participation in ‘Tiger Fest’ held in Mahim Nature park on 21st Feb 09. Approximately 100 schools participated in fest. Functions of ENVIS Centre & Website explained through interaction with Teachers, Students and Parents.

    13. Involvement of Tribal Women Self Help Groups (SHG) from villages like Bhandara in Eco-friendly holi campaign. Provided platform for publishing Appeal for various programs, like ‘Bird Protection Campaign around Ujani reservoir’ for active participation.

    15. Initiative to study the Environmental changes in urban areas. Visit to observe Migratory birds (Sewari), like Flamingos, sandpipers, Black-tailed Godwits, etc. After observations & discussion with locals, this topic was put in Discussion Forum on website for public opinion & awareness. ‘Save Mangroves’ appeal published on website.

    17. ENVIS Centre helping in e-governance by displaying Information through different modules related to Environmental Clearance, Schemes, Notification, Legislation, Notices, Government resolutions related to Environment Department.

    20. ENVIS centre has developed Green calendar consisting of various environmental national / international days. This calendar includes information of respective event (how to celebrate the event on personal , organizational level) like ‘Oil conservation Fortnight’, ‘World Wetland day’, ‘Animal welfare fortnight’, ‘Eco-friendly Holi’ etc.

    22. News related to environment from different newspapers ( English & regional language) are categorised into different topics like ‘Natural resource & management’, ‘Sustainable development’, ‘Environmental economics’, ‘Environmental pollution & management’, ‘Eco-tourism’ etc. This has made the News section more User-friendly. Fortnight Updation.

    24. Earlier just listing of different Environment related events Modified the section by displaying its Success story in form of report & photographs. This has helped to create better understanding about such events.

    25. ENVIS centre receives queries from different parts of society through e-mail, Telephonic, post etc. These queries are solved as per the subject matter, sometimes directed to concerned authority. To keep a separate record for this a ‘Query Module’ is designed on website.

    26. ‘Environmental Education’ subject is made compulsory in Schools & Colleges, as a part of Course work students need different topics for project work. We received many such queries and decided to suggest project topics under different categories like Energy, Sustainable Agriculture, Pollution etc. The list is hosted on website in ‘Environment Education’ section.

Information about various schemes (notifications, progress reports) implemented by Environment department like National Green Corps, Lake Conservation etc. Environmental Legislation (Acts, notifications, government orders and rules) Information is compiled and made available in public domain through ENVIS website.

    36. Based on different themes six ENVIS newsletters (English), were published in electronic format. Newsletters in printed format - two Publication of monthly Marathi newsletter ‘Runanubandh’: Distributed in about 10,000 schools Newsletter topics (E-Waste Management, Atmospheric Brown Clouds, Mangrove Ecosystem in Maharashtra, Crocodile Conservation, Protected Areas in Maharashtra & Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).

Water Supply & Sewage Generation in Local Bodies in Maharashtra - report is prepared to indicate the requirement of sewage treatment facilities in the state to reduce the river water pollution. Irrigation status of year 2007-08 indicating number of dams, dam size, water holding capacity and water availability in the state. Statistical report 2007-08 by MPCB National ambient air quality monitoring networks in Maharashtra Statistical data collected from Directorate of Economics and Statistics (Economic Surveys)

    38. ISBEID Software: information on ISBEID categories like Administrative profile, Agriculture, Climate, Demography, Infrastructure, National parks and wildlife sanctuaries, Natural resources is collected from parent departments, commissionerate & District offices and entered in ISBEID software. Environmental Data Bank: Demographical, agricultural, meteorological Statistics about Districts in Maharashtra along with the data from ISBEID.

    41. Costal Ecosystem Information on website Hosted CRZ notification, details about MCZMA meetings on ENVIS website under ‘Environmental Clearance’ for easy access to people. Amended CRZ notification for easy understanding of ‘CRZ 1991 notification & its amendments’ and hosted it on website. ENVIS Newsletter focusing on “Mangrove Ecosystem in Maharashtra” was published for public awareness. News related to Mangroves, Coastal Ecosystem management - collected and hosted on ENVIS website. Appeal for people to Save Mangroves. Visited Sewari creek for understanding the effect of ‘Mangrove ecosystem destruction on migratory birds’.

    42. Achievements ‘ENVIS’ Centre emerges as Eco-friendly Brand name. ‘ENVIS’ Centre establishes as important link of Environmental Awareness Chain.

    43. Proactive Initiatives: EC, Visits, Eco-friendly festivals Data collection, Database Development Govt. Employee\ People associated with ENVIS activities found instrumental in data collection.
