Regions IX and X Goals and Objectives: FTCCs will: • Collaborate and develop training in Fresno, California that addresses the multiple health needs of the providers serving the Migrant community in the Central Valley. • Collaborate and develop training in Yakima, Washington that addresses health disparities among the Hispanic and Native communities. • Address the training needs of the providers on the “Vertical Border” in California and Washington Outcomes • Collaborate on two local health conferences; • Migrant Health focus in Fresno, CA. • Addressing Health Disparities focus in Yakima, WA • Face to face meeting of two regions in June 2010 • Report an increase in knowledge and attitudes regarding the intersection of HIV, STDs, TB, Pregnancy Prevention, and Substance Abuse. • Identify future training needs and opportunities from focus groups and conference evaluations • Identify barriers to integrating prevention services • Identify lessons learned Strategies that drove collaboration • Prior history of successful collaboration in both regions • Build upon the AETC’s Mexican border conference

Regions IX and X continued Lessons Learned: • Electronic evaluation for the Fresno conference was successful • Participants only received electronic conference materials • FTCC audiences are different so more planning was needed to meet the diverse needs. • Having community providers involved in the planning process made the content more culturally appropriate. • Regular FTCC meetings are important and remind us how much overlap there is and how we can support each other in common activities. • Collaboration builds on itself. Successful collaboration breeds more collaboration. • Targeted funding for these activities improved collaboration Next Steps • Resume regular conference calls to share information • Share information across TCs about training activities and common internal processes; • Conference call to discuss integration of Cultural Proficiency • Share information regarding E-learning activities and use of Technology • Use results of two focus groups at conferences to guide future collaboration.
