  3. THE PARTS OF A SEED • ONE PART OF A SEED IS THE SEEDLING. IT IS INSIDE THE SEED. ANOTHER PART OF THE SEED IS THE SEED COAT. IT PROTECTS THE SEEDLING. THE LAST PART OF THE SEED IS THE FOOD. THERE IS FOOD INSIDE THE SEED TO HELP THE PLANT GROW.

  4. HOW SEEDS SPREAD • SEEDS SPREAD IN MANY DIFFERENT WAYS. ONE WAY SEEDS SPREAD IS BY ATTACHING THEMSELVES TO HUMANS OR ANIMALS. A SEED MAY BECOME ATTACHED TO A PERSON’S CLOTHING OR AN ANIMAL’S FUR AND TRAVEL A WHILE BEFORE FALLING OFF.

  5. HOW SEEDS SPREAD • ANOTHER WAY SEEDS ARE SPREAD IS THROUGH WATER. A SEED CAN TRAVEL TO A NEW PLACE BY HITCHING A RIDE IN THE WATER.

  6. HOW SEEDS SPREAD • A THIRD WAY SEEDS ARE SPREAD IS BY THE WIND. THE WIND MAY PICK UP A SEED AND SEND IT FLOATING THROUGH THE AIR TO A NEW LOCATION.

  7. HOW SEEDS SPREAD • A FINAL WAY SEEDS CAN SPREAD IS BY BEING SHOT OUT OF THE SACK BY THE PARENT PLANT. THE SEEDS MAY TRAVEL A SHORT OR LONG DISTANCE WHEN THIS HAPPENS.

  8. FUN FACTS ABOUT SEEDS • THE SQUIRTING CUCUMBER CAN SHOOT ITS SEEDS 27 FEET AWAY. IT CAN GO UP TO 62 MILES PER HOUR.

  9. FUN FACTS ABOUT SEEDS • COCONUT SEEDS CAN TRAVEL IN THE WATER FOR MONTHS BEFORE LANDING SOMEWHERE.

  13. ABOUT THE AUTHOR • I AM A THIRD GRADE STUDENT IN MRS. SHORE’S THIRD GRADE CLASS. SCIENCE IS MY FAVORITE SUBJECT AND I REALLY LIKE WORKING ON THE COMPUTER SO I LOVED THIS PROJECT. MY OTHER FAVORITE THINGS TO DO ARE PLAY VIDEO GAMES AND PLAY OUTSIDE.
