  3. “Honor your father and mother (which is the first commandment with a promise) that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the earth.” • Treat them with respect, to exalt them in our hearts in gratitude for the love they have given and the sacrifices they have made in our behalf. • To provide for their needs in old age.

  4. When children obey and honor their parents the way is prepared for a happy and peaceful home. When they are resistant to God’s truth, anxiety and pain abound.
