  1. Photogrammetry Review Raphael Goudard Visit Nov 27 – Nov 30

  2. Suggested Activities • Intro to NCSX Project / Assembly Sequence • Brown movies and models • Photogrammetry use on current phase • Measure and compare to our files • Offer suggestion of how photogrammetry can be used to rack and align coils • Photogrammetry use on future phase • MCHP (3 coil Half Period), FP (Field period) and final assembly • Lock in on machine as we assemble layers (Mod coils, TF coils, PF Coils, Cryostat) • Specifics of Aicon System • Reverse Engineering • Deflection analysis • Import/export • pre/post processing • How to avoid Wendelstein processing time (when does it bog down) • Reuse of coded target numbers • Is he familiar with GSI V-Star system?

  3. Debrief • Arrived Monday – gave brief tour • Tuesday – Set up targets on A1 9:30 – 10:30 Took a lot of time to ream holes for new photogrammetry targets • 10:30 – 11:30 took first project: set of 200 pictures Verify A1 scan with laser tracker (.060 mm) • Placed B1 on A1 then took second set of 200 photos and learned that B1 did not distort A1. (.070 mm) • During lunch B1 was removed then took third set of photos after lunch and verified the A1 still was stable (.060 mm)

  4. Debrief • Wednesday – Set up targets on B3 which had just completed racking and measuring • Took pictures to characterize coil (.050 mm) • Unracked coil using dial indicators took photos and whiskers showed that coil moved exactly as dial indicators. • Analyzed data using best fit as well deformation analysis (.090 mm) • Realigned wedge to itself before and after and could identify deformation vs. translation (.180 mm) • We then tried to rerack the coil by restoring the dial indicators. • The detection of this movement was much easier and obvious with photogrammetry • We validated this movement by checking a couple of point with the laser tracker.

  5. Debrief • Thursday – Validated LT measurements and Steve operated software personally and reran Monday’s data from the beginning to the end. • Photogrammetry has validated that the laser tracker measurements to date are valid. Best fits of Photogrammetry to LT are within (.060 mm)
