T cell ontology Revision

T cell ontology Revision. T cells. 34 terms for types of T cell currently exist in the Cell Ontology. Broadly divided into immature and mature subsets, and into alpha-beta and gamma-delta subsets. The genus term ‘T cell’ is the parent term for all types of T cell. Immature T cells.

  2. T cells • 34 terms for types of T cell currently exist in the Cell Ontology. • Broadly divided into immature and mature subsets, and into alpha-beta and gamma-delta subsets. • The genus term ‘T cell’ is the parent term for all types of T cell.

  3. Immature T cells

  4. Mature T cells

  5. T Cell Ontology General issues for T cells • Introduce “thymocyte” to replace immature • Make definitions more precise. DN1 thymocyte - CD4- CD8- CD44+ CD25- • Introduce the concept of naïve versus antigen experienced T cell - instead of “mature” • Add additional T helper subsets - introduce transcription factors as part of the definition Changes made • Collapsed immature and mature T cell into the T cell term • Made definitions more precise. DN1 thymocyte - CD4- CD8- CD44+ CD25- • Added some generic terms such as helper T cell, memory T cell • A few cells have two parents • Expanded the development stages

  6. T cell overview

  7. T cell development

  8. NK T cells

  9. Definitions include CD markers and TFs
