Since2004,theAdvocacyAwardseventhasrecognizedleaderswhohavedemonstratedanSince2004,theAdvocacyAwardseventhasrecognizedleaderswhohavedemonstratedan exemplarycommitmenttoadvancingopportunitiesforchildrenandadultswithdisabilitiesor specialneeds.The10thannualAdvocacyAwardswillhighlightEasterSeals’servicestothe militaryfamily,includingChildDevelopmentProgramsfor“LittleWarriors,”MilitaryFamilyRespite, CaregiverTraining,AdultDayServices,VeteranStaffingNetworkandHomelessVeterans ReintegrationPrograms. “Itisanhonortodevotethis10thanniversaryoftheAdvocacyAwardstorecognizeservice membersandtheirfamilieswhohaveansweredournation’scall,andtorecognizethosewhojoin withusasweinturnempowerourveterans,warriorsandtheirfamiliestothriveintheir communitiesbeyondtheircallofduty,”saysLisaReeves,President&CEOofEasterSealsServing DCIMDIVA. AnnandGeneralCampbellareacceptinganAdvocacyAwardonbehalfofactiveandveteran militaryservicemembersandtheirfamilies.AstheViceChiefofStaffoftheArmy,General CampbellisafourstarGeneralandthesecond-highestrankingofficerintheDepartmentofthe Army.InthiscapacityheisresponsibleforthemanagementoftheU.S.Army'scapabilities, requirements,budget,policy,plans,programs,andinstallations,aswellasmanagementofthe ArmyStaff.GeneralCampbellhasmorethan34yearsofserviceandhascommandedatevery echelonfromplatoontodivision,withcombattoursinHaiti,Iraq,andAfghanistan.In2010 GeneralCampbellledmorethan30,000Soldiersincombatoperationsacrossfourteenprovinces withinRegionalCommandEastwhileservinginAfghanistanastheCommandingGeneralofthe 101stAirborneDivision(AirAssault)"ScreamingEagles." SomeofAnnCampbell’smostdedicatedeffortshavebeentowardguidingvolunteer-ledArmy FamilyReadinessGroups(FRG)fromCompanytoDivisionlevel.Atirelessadvocateforour soldiers,theirfamilies,veteransandwoundedwarriors,sherecentlyjoinedtheboardfor CenterstoneMilitaryServices,whichprovidesonlinecounselingandsupportgroupstosoldiersand

  3. theirfamiliesthroughtheprogram“CourageBeyond.” ThroughherworkwiththeConsumerFinancialProtectionBureauandtheCouncilofBetter BusinessBureaus,Ms.Petraeushasledeffortstoensurethatmilitaryfamiliesreceivestrong financialeducationandtoseethatfederalandstateagenciescoordinatetheiractivitiestoimprove consumerprotectionmeasuresformilitaryfamilies.Amilitaryspousefor37years,Ms.Petraeus hashadextensiveexperienceasavolunteerleaderinmilitaryfamilyprogramsandhasworked withlocal,stateandnationallegislatorsonissuesaffectingArmyfamilies.
