  1. News Y2K Steering Group meeting April 30, 2007

  2. Face-to-Face Meeting at Fermilab • June 12, Tuesday • 8 am (Breakfast) to 6 pm • Dinner at ~6:30 pm • July 9, Monday • 8 am (Breakfast) to 6 pm • Dinner at ~6:30 pm • Video / Audio available

  3. Group 1: Synergy to ILC ILC EDR + ILC R&D ILC Construction Test Facility for ILC Connection to Facility A Facility A 2010 2012 2014 2016

  4. Group 1: Synergy to ILC ILC Construction • NML Facility (1-2 ILC RF units) with beam • + Crymodule Production + Test Bed • 6 GeV ILC Linac • 5 GeV ILC Linac + ILC Damping Ring • (Tevatron Tunnel) • Other options? • 8 GeV Proton Source • Super B Factory • Other options?

  5. Group 1: Synergy to ILC • Comments on facilities (not Physics) • Group: • Steve, Tor, Tom, Sergei

  6. Group 2: Neutrino Physics • Using NuSAG studies, develop a strategic plan for the accelerator-based Neutrino Physics program • Group: • Neutrino Physics Group

  7. Group 3: Flavor Physics • Develop a near-term plan for the accelerator-based flavor physics (quarks, charged leptons, physics with anti-protons, etc.) program • Small scale, near future programs by recycling existing facilities • Group: • Flavor Physics Group • David + Fermilab Accelerator team

  8. Group 4: Higher Energy Colliders • Develop the steps necessary to explore higher energy colliders that might follow the ILC or be needed should the results from LHC point toward a higher energy than that planned for the ILC. • Group: • Maury, Helen, Vladimir

  9. June 12th Meeting at Fermilab • Morning • Group reports • Afternoon • Sketching roadmaps • Preparation for Interim Report • Plan for June and July

  10. Communication with the HEP Community • Met with various groups • ILC Tesla Technology Collaboration (Tuesday, April 24) • CDF Collaboration (Thursday, April 26) • DZero Collaboration (Friday, April 27) • MiniBooNE Collaboration (Friday, April 27) • Fermilab Scientists (Friday, April 27) • More meetings are scheduled • http://www.fnal.gov/directorate/Longrange/Steering_Public/HEP-community.html • Most of questions are for clarification • Many suggestions

  11. Suggestions: Solicit Proposals from the HEP community. • The lab. generates guidelines • e.g. Protons on Target per year, proton energy, time structure for beam (1 TeV fast-spill beam), etc. • We could solicit single page sketches/proposals for experiments. • a summary on why the physics is compelling, • back-of-envelope discussion of beam requirements, • brief detector description, and • resources needed from the laboratory to develop this into a letter of intent? They might be engineering, technical R&D, practical theoretical calculations, etc.
