Gearing up for meditation at Chopra Meditation Center Rancho
Meditation is not a overnight phenomenon where you are going to sit, start meditating and get results in a short span of time. It is a long process where you need to be dedicated, you need to put your heart and soul into it and make sure that you are not bogged down in the absence of any tangible results. Since the results of meditation are intangible many people might lose their focus and leave meditating. Meditation not just sitting down and focusing on a particular thought mantra or concept. It is a much deeper concept which if dealt seriously can lead to drastic life changes. To deal with meditation seriously however you need to ensure that make serious efforts before actually sitting down to meditate.
The time for meditation needs to be fixed before hand Meditation is not like food, whenever you get hungry you are going to have a bite. You need to have fixed time every day when you are going to meditate. If your timing to meditate is erratic you won’t be able to get the desired results in due course of time. A time in the morning or evening when you don’t have any engagements will be the best time to fix for your meditation schedule. Better if you can join a Chopra Meditation Center in Rancho since you will be going at the same time there and meeting your timing deadline without any fail.
In case you have joined a yoga studio then you don’t have to worry about space however if you are meditating at home you need to fix a spot for yourself where you are going to meditate every day. Steer clear of changing space frequently since this is going to disturb your continuity and focus. The space you chose for yourself should be well lit preferably with natural light. If you are not getting ample of natural light into your home a soothing light that helps you relax will be a good choice. Make sure the spot or corner you choose in your home is free from any disturbances and hindrances.
Make sure you have no disturbance while meditating Switch off or put the mobile phone on silent mode. If you have a landline make sure to turn down its volume or put it on auto answering mode. The world is not going to fall apart if you are not able to attend a phone call for one hour or half an hour. Have someone ready to answer the doorbell if possible or choose a timing at which you won’t expect anyone to come over to your place. In case you have people in your home while you are meditating let them know not to disturb you and maintain silence for the time you have fixed for meditation. In case your ears are hypersensitive and you can even hear a pin dropping in the next room get ear plugs for yourself. You will need the earplugs initially since after a period of time you will be able to cut out the sound just by meditating and focusing on the thought you have been focusing.
Setting an intention and motivation is necessary Before you start meditating you need to have your intentions clear of why you are meditating. You need to make sure that you have all the information about the benefits (intangible) you are going to reap after meditating. The motivation part needs to be strong enough to make sure that you stick on the path you have taken when you started meditating. Repeat your intention and motivation before actually sitting down to meditate every time you take up a meditating session since this is going to act as a catalyst and ensure a proper sitting and keep you motivated for a long period of time especially when things get monotonous.
Your posture determines your sitting capacity and end results While sitting down to meditate you need to maintain a proper posture to make sure that you are comfortable and don’t harm your body structure since you are going to sit for a long period of time. If you are sitting in a bad posture or sitting in a posture that makes you uncomfortable your focus and energy will be focused somewhere else rather than on meditation.
Do not have a heavy meal before meditating We don’t recommend meditating on an empty stomach however don’t fill your stomach so much that you are busy stopping yourself from feeling asleep. Excess intake of food makes us groggy which results in diverting energy from meditation to making an effort to remain alert. High energy foods and food laden with excessive sugar needs to be avoided at any cost before you start meditating. Meditation is not relaxation although it helps you relax your mind and body once you master but it should never be taken as the time for relaxation. You need to make a conscious effort to focus on your inner self which requires a bit of your energy and you cannot afford to be groggy while meditating.
