  3. Learning Outcomes: By the end of this session, you will be able to… • Determine positive impacts technology can have on your lessons • Compile a checklist of things to do before acquiring new technology/systems

  4. New Technology In educational context: Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) • Offers huge potential for classroom use

  5. Planning • Understand the potential of any specific form of ICT • Plan how to implement it into your classroom • Be sure you know how to use it before using it in front of the class

  6. Advice • Advice on different equipment and programs • Training/Seminars • Whole school training is best • Self help

  7. Students Acquiring Basic Skills • Establish strong class routine • Positive attitude towards ICTs • They will mirror your reactions

  8. Software • Education or content-specific software available • Help students individually, in group, and/or whole-class • Think / research carefully which software is most useful

  9. Expensive does not mean Best • Most expensive technologies are not always the most effective! • Some cheap but effective uses: audio clips, radio instructions, free online courses and videos

  10. Speed Up Learning Process • Technology can help speed up tedious processes • Watch virtual labs or scenarios online or via video without having to do it • Ex: Math/Science investigations move more rapidly if calculations are done electronically

  11. Transform Learning Opportunities • Perform investigations and experiments that were previously impossible to perform Before: too expensive/not enough space Now: virtual access for free or low cost!

  12. Community Awareness • Use technology in schools to support your community • Shine light on your community and share with the world • Research ways to improve greatest area(s) of need • Share technology with members of the community
