ACSM/NSPAPPH Specialty Certification ACSM leads the industry in the “gold standard” of certification This certification establishes another “gold standard” specific to the area of physical activity and public health. The development of this certification has been a truly collaborative process. The NSPAPPH is honored to be working with ACSM to develop and implement this certification and we thank ACSM for their dedication and assistance to further define the emerging field of physical activity and public health.     2. ACSM/NSPAPPH Specialty Certification “Physical Activity in Public Health Specialist” Why? Assists employers in identifying highly qualified professionals Promotes continued professional development Expands one’s scope of practice Establishes a national standard of practice;this certification documents that you are uniquely qualified to effectively promote physical activity in a public health setting.Establishes a national standard of practice;this certification documents that you are uniquely qualified to effectively promote physical activity in a public health setting.

    3. What Exam items were developed based on the following physical activity competencies: Partnerships Data and Scientific Information Planning and Evaluation Interventions Organizational Structure Exercise Science in a Public Health Setting

    4. Who is eligible? Minimum requirements are a Bachelor’s Degree in a health related field* from a regionally accredited college or university *Examples: Exercise science; Exercise Physiology; Kinesiology; Physical Education; Sports Management; Athletic Training; Recreation; Nutrition; Health Education; Health Promotion; Public Health; Community Health; and Health Care Administration.
