  2. Objectives… • Definitions • Count Day(s) • Calculating minutes enrolled and FTE for virtual students 18 and under • Documentation needed for count days • Counting virtual students 19 and over • Future Webinars

Definitions • Virtual Student: enrolled in a KSDE approved virtual school or program (education is asynchronous – student can access any time, anywhere) • Adult (NG): any student over the age of 18 AND whose 5th year cohort has graduated, or any student over the age of 21 • DOES NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH FUNDING • 5th year senior (17): a senior whose 5th year cohort has not graduated regardless of age • DOES NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH FUNDING • Virtual funding only looks at student age on September 20 • 18 or under on September 20 = funding on minutes • 19 or over on September 20 = funding on credits earned

  4. Count Day – Virtual 18 and under • 2018-2019 school year count day is THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 20 • 2 Day Count for Virtual School/Program Students • 1 day on or beforeSeptember 19 • 1 day on or afterSeptember 20, but beforeOctober 4

Count Day – Virtual 18 and under Example: September 15 – 112 minutes September 16 – 130 minutes September 17 – 300 minutes September 18 – 0 minutes September 19 – 240 minutes September 20 – 360 minutes September 21 – 300 minutes September 22 – 0 minutes September 23 – 0 minutes September 24 – 0 minutes • Longest day September 19 and before = 300 • Longest day September 20 or after (but before October 4) = 360 • Enrolled minutes = 360+300/2 • Enrolled minutes = 330 • FTE = 330/360 • FTE = .9

Count Day – Virtual 18 and under • Documenting Count Days Attendance • Virtual School Sample Forms for documenting count day time • On-line: printout from computer system showing amount of time student was logged in • Off-line: documented with an Academic Activity Log • Log must be signed by student, or student’s guardian if they are younger than 18 • Logs must be signed by November 1 • On-site: documented by sign in/sign out sheets showing when the student attended

Count Day – Virtual 19+ • The only date that matter in determining 19 and over vs. 18 and under is September 20 (regardless of when it falls)… if a student is 19 on September 20, they are funded as a 19+ Virtual student • There essentially is no count day • Students are funded based on credits completed (July 1-June 30) • Still need to send an ENRL record for headcount purposes • Minutes Enrolled = 360
