  5. Demonstrative adjectives 1 Sometimes, when you are comparing various items, it is useful to be able to make it clear exactly which one you are talking about at any given time. Look at the following sentences in English. I like the red jumper. I like this red jumper. The second sentence, where the speaker points and uses the word this is much clearer than the first. We know exactly which jumper she is talking about.

  8. Demonstrative adjectives 4 So how do you say that or those in Spanish? As usual it depends on the gender of whatever you are referring to: ese, esos,esaandesas. Me queda bien ese chaleco. Me queda mal esa camisa. Me quedan bien esas botas. Me quedan mal esos zapatos.

  9. Demonstrative adjectives 5 There two words for that – ese and aquel. But aquel describes something that is further away. And as usual it always depends on the gender of whatever you are referring to: aquel, aquellos,aquellaandaquellos. Me queda bien aquelchaleco. Me queda mal aquella camisa. Me quedan bien aquellas botas. Me quedan mal aquellos zapatos.
