What is Diversity and Inclusion Training • Diversity and inclusion training is the method of educating employees about how to work with people from various backgrounds. • Two types of diversity training are present that includes awareness training and skills training. • Awareness training includes raising awareness and helping people to see the world through someone of a different age, race, gender eyes. • Skills training includes training people to build skills such as communicating better from diverse backgrounds and reducing the levels of unconscious bias in their decision making.

Importance of Training • It helps the organization believe in the benefits of diversity that includes above-average financial returns, more innovation, better decision-making, happier staff, and customers. • These training methods can open your eyes to wider perspectives and help them to perform better. • It provides concrete ways to engage in respectful and positive interactions in the workplace while reducing discrimination and prejudice based on factors such as gender, ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, age, and religion.

Providing Effective Diversity & Inclusion Training • Start With the "Why“: People must understand that if they are getting the most pout of the diversity and inclusion training then why they are there. • Integrating Awareness and Skills: Integrating unconscious bias tests and privilege awareness exercises with exercises to help people build specific job-related skills such as role-playing scenarios for helping managers communicate better. • Be Inclusive: Try to be inclusive in training by including all dimensions such as gender, age, and religion.
