Health Cube OUR OBJECTIVES: FY 2013 • Design and construct first vertical garden facility in Africa – the Green Kenya Building • Develop first 10 ha of fruit and vegetable plantations in the Green Kenya Building • Train 300 local people of Nairobi in organic farming • Provide 150 jobs for locals on the base of the Green Kenya Building
Health Cube OUR RESULTS The Green Kenya Building – first vertical garden in Africa was constructed Height: 150 m Area for plantations: 50 ha Potential: 10,000 kg fruit and vegetables annually Potential Number of Jobs: 500
Health Cube First 15 ha of plantations are developedat the base of the Green Kenya Building 500 kg of high quality fruits and vegetables are produced
Health Cube 30 free trainings on urban organic farming were organized 450 local people from poor local communities were trained 100 people of them started their own urban micro-farms
Health Cube 120 jobs provided for local people at the Green Kenya Building (GKB) 100 contracts with local farmers for organic production are signed Special training program for future GKB employees was designed and started
