Ecology A branch of biology dealing with the relations and interactions between organisms and their environment, including other organisms. species population Habitat Competition Commensalism Carrying Capacity Niche Predator Symbiosis Parasitism Succession Community Prey Mutualism Limiting Factors Pioneer Species
species population the population of a specific species in the field of ecology. Ecologist study the interactions between animals, and their habitats. They study the species population to get a basic understanding of how well of the specific animal they’re studying is. For the north American bald eagle the approximate species population is 35,00.
Habitat the natural home or environment of an animal, plant, or other organism • Ecologist study an animal’s habitat to get a better understanding of the needs of the animal. The more understood the animal’s habitat is. The easier it is for the ecologist to formulate a plan to preserve the animal. The bald eagle’s natural habitat is near mountains, and rivers.
Competition the struggle between two or more living things that depend on the same limited resources when there is a dispute over a high valued necessity such as food, water, or shelter competition has occurred. The bald eagle is equipped with multiple weapons such as it’s talons, and beak, each of these weapons have been used for competition, and methods of survival.
Commensalism an interaction between two or more species in which one species benefits without harming the other • The commensalism relationship of animals helps ecologist learn more about the behavior for future data/information. This data can help prevent future accidents from happening, and save a great deal of trouble later on. An example of such a relationship is the relationship of cordials and hippos.
Carrying Capacity The maximum size that a population can reach in an ecosystem • Ecologist study the carrying capacity for all the animals that are involved in the world’s business. If even one of these animals were to go extinct it could cause serious effects on everybody’s lives. • The carrying capacity of any animal is based on the animal's food source, location, predator, and environmental conditions.
Niche the role a living thing plays in its habitat • An ecologist knows that the niche, or the role an animal plays in it’s habitat is a very important thing to be know. If they know what the animal does they can better assist the animals in large environments from just the information on 1 animal. • The niche of the bald eagle is to control the population of fish, and other animals within it’s area.
Predator an animal that hunts other animals and eats them • ecologist study if the animal is the predator, or the prey. this piece of information provides the needed requirements for the animal's food, and it tells them which animal is dangerous to a specific species. the bald eagle is the predator to fish, and snakes.
Symbiosis the interaction between individuals from two different species that live closely together • in the feld of ecology; ecologist study the interactions between individuals, for mutiple reason like data, to understand the animal, and try to preserve the animal in it's natural enviroment. • an example of such an interaction can be found in the natural life of any creature. for instance a bald eagle, and a squirle.
Parasitism a relationship between two species in which one species benefits and the other is harmed • the reason why parasitism is important is because, parisites thrive on their host, and do not enough damage to kill its host, but just enough to harm their host. ecologist study these realtionships so they know when an animalis in pain, how to protect human life, and when not to interfer. • an exame of such a relationship is a virus living inside of a human.
succession a natural process that involves a gradual change in the plant and animal communities that live in an area • The reason why ecologist study succession is because. They each want to know why this change occurred, and what type of effect this change would produce in their own lives. • An example of succession would be. A forest turning into a desert.
Community an interacting group of various species in a common location • Ecologist try to understand the community that animals live in, and the interactions animals have with each other. These two things are the bases for all of ecologist field of study. • An example of the community that animals have with each other, would be a group of animals living together, trying to survive, and reproduce like, humans in a city.
Prey an animal that another animal hunts and eats • knowing the type of food that is neccasary for a specific animal to eat is mandatory for any ecologist because without that food the animal would surely die out. the bald eagle's main prey is fish.
Mutualism an interaction between two species in which both benefit • ecologist study the interactions so thoroughly, that they know every detail about the animal so they can provide for it's needs, defend it from harm, and make sure the animal survives. bald eagles have a mutualism relation ship with human beings, because most people don't eat bald eagles, and its very rare for bald eagles to if ever harm humans.
Pioneer Species the first species to move into a lifeless environment • a pioneer species is studied in ecology, because it's very presence in any area can effect the larger ecosystem, that that animal hs some invovlement in. • an example of such an event would be a person inhabiting a small uninhabited island
Threats • the thearts to the bald eagle, are all man made materials, guns used carelessly, and people wrecking the eagle's natural enviroment. • examples guns • lead poisoning • powerlines • careless shotings • habitat destruction
Protection methods • making it illegal to hunt bald eagles • creating massive finds to discourage such activities • baning harmful chemicals to bald eagles • removing bald eagle from hunting list
Importance • the reason why the bald eagle is so important is because it's a limiting factor for a vast majority for creatures, and without this limtiter the popultion of tons, and tons of animals would decrease
effect on human life • the effects in human life would in actuality would be truly great. without the bald eagle limiting the number of animals w could see more of dangerous animals roaming the streets. we could slowly be starting to lose some of our most belvoed resourses. we need each animal in it's specific spot, without each animal where it's supposed to be things could turn into a huge mess. the bald eagle is a regulator in nature. it makes sure that certain animals such as bears, and other larger predators don't grow to numerous: by eating the natural prey of larger animals. the bald eagle protects us as a humanity by limiting the growth of other animals
Possible solutions some possible solutons are. making the penalities worse for breaking this law trying to make massiv breading projects destroy every traces of harmful objects towards this animal. have special days to make more people aware of the problem and trying your best in your own way to keep this animal safe
