  6. During • Tyranny in the city-states • Nobles seized power from the Greek kings • Farmers had to borrow money from nobles. If not paid back, lands were sold and farmers became slaves • Tyrants overthrew nobles in the 600’s B.C. • Tyrants built great buildings to maintain popularity
