Summary • How well do models treat mean and transient wind forcing events? Gap winds contaminate the annual wind field in the EPAC. (Filter?) • Warm eddies are generated by winds or through current instabilities. How do the eddies interact with the ocean mixed layer and thermocline processes? Are currents well reproduced in both a mean and transient sense? • Warm pool (10oN) does not significantly cool under strong forcing (A no wake zone?). Model mixing parameterizations need to be looked using current/shear data. • Relaxing model back to a monthly ocean climatology will cause problems in the simulations. • Integrated data sets (mooring, ship, aircraft) with uncertainties and space/time resolution in EPAC.
