Local initiatives • Asia: E-government by local governments • OPEN, Seoul City, expanded to all Korean cities • Shanghai City: underway

Activities • Local BBS – many (‘80s) • Community Access Center/Telecenter in developing countries, by IDRC, UNDP… • ISPs setup by local governments, local IX to come • Citizen participation to governance: • e-Democracy • Community Fiber – Canada, Chicago, Palo Alto… • Municipal governments – Stockholm/Stokab, Milan … • Economic development • Tourism promotion, training, websites
