DA-06-05 Point of ContactHiromichi Maruyama, Japan Objective Develop a guidance document for basic geographic data, taking into account relevant national, regional, and global initiatives-making the data easier to discover 2006 Accomplishments • Conducted survey on current state • 36 NMOs and 2 Organizations replied • Developed workplan Task Report to the GEO Architecture and Data Committee
DA-06-05 2007 Work to Be Performed • Define the scope and request proposals to develop the Basic Geographic Data Framework • Collect recommendations with support from lead organizations, GEO members and external communities • Draft Guideline issued, comments due March 15 to converge or harmonize observation methods, • Publish the findings and recommendations Issues- Participation is necessary, currently 40 member organizations - Provide feedback to the draft guidelines Task Report to the GEO Architecture and Data Committee
DI-06-02 Point of ContactRhett Butler, GSN Objective Facilitate improvement of capabilities for global seismographic networks such as GSN, FDSN, DAPHNE, GNSS networks and new ocean bottom networks such as VENUS and NEPTUNE and sharing of data and event products among GEO members. 2006 Accomplishments • Eighteen reports and presentations were distributed by the participating members and organizations • GSN Annual Report of progress with 5 new seismic stations • Progress in improving real-time telecommunications in support of the Tsunami Warning System Task Report to the GEO Architecture and Data Committee
DI-06-02 2007 Work to Be Performed • Expand real-time telemetry capabilities and robustness • Promote real time access and use of data from GNSS permanent stations • Facilitate data management coordination for seismological data, metadata and products • Establish GEOSS 6-year target to develop new broad seisomometers for seismology and tsunami warning • Establish GEOSS 10-year target to extend global seismological coverage into oceans Issues- Ongoing coordination Task Report to the GEO Architecture and Data Committee
