4th Singapore Model United Nations Conference 13th - 15th March 2008

The Ambassador of Sierra Leone’s Speech Greetings, Excellencies, fellow delegates, honorable chairs, ladies, gentlemen and honoured guests. Sierra Leone is proud to be represented here today at this conference. Once again, delegates of all countries unite from around the world, forgetting feuds to discuss the world’s issues. By proposing its solutions to these problems, Sierra Leone believes that it will grow as a nation, alongside its fellow member states as it furthers its involvement in international issues and increases its diplomatic importance. Having been through the turmoil of civil war in the recent past , Sierra Leone will take advantage of its newly gained stability in order to develop itself politically, economically and of course, diplomatically. The ambassador and the diplomatic corps hopes that this conference will proceed in the best manner possible to enable us to find appropriate solutions to the world’s troubles thereby helping its people. Indeed this is the aim of the United Nations, let us be true to it. Thank you.
The Ambassador of Spain’s speech Buenos dias ladies and gentlemen, fellow delegates and honorable chairs. The ambassador and delegates of Spain are extremely pleased to be present at this year’s conference. In the past year we have witnessed the democratic system being stained by violence on several occasions thus shaking our confidence. It is the hope of the Spanish delegation that through our debates and the decisions taken over the next three days, this conference will prove that democratic discussion can lead to progress. The Spanish delegation hopes that this conference will be able to rise to the challenge of finding solutions to resolve the problems facing our world today. In this spirit the delegation would like to leave everyone with the thought that « united we stand, divided we fall ». Gracias
