  2. 6 Steps in posting to the general ledger (text p. 210-11) after the transaction has been journalized… 1. go to proper ledger account 2. record the date in the next unused line 3. record the journal page number (posting reference P.R.) 4. record dollar value in debit or credit column 5. calculate and enter a new balance; indicate if it is a CR or DR 6. Record the account number of the posting back in the original journal (P.R.)
