Word Training in SkillPort • Java is imperative for using SkillPort. SkillPort needs Java loaded to function properly. To download Java open a browser and go to http://java.com. Select the big red download button and just follow the instructions.
Ask My Mentor • All Microsoft training in SkillPort has a subject matter expert associated with the course. • Use the Ask My Mentor feature in any Microsoft course in SkillPort to have an immediate chat with an expert. The question does not have to be related to the course, just the subject. • Select the Resources button in the course and then select Ask My Mentor from the list. Select Live Chat.
Quick Styles • Design Tab • Select a theme from the Themes area of the ribbon • Use the scrolling arrows at right of themes to moved through the theme choices. • As you mouse over each theme it will display in your presentation to give you a preview.
You try it • Open the document named “Executive Summary_Example” • Put your cursor in front of the E of Executive Summary • Now open the Styles and move your cursor over the styles • Change the font color and style • Click Apply Styles to apply a style
Mail Merge 2010 • You have been provided two documents in a folder on your desktop • A Word Letter • An Excel file recipient list • Open the Letter and follow along
Doc. Navigation & Section Breaks • Open the document “Executive Summary_Example” • Put your cursor in front of each header • Go to Page Layout Tab • Click Breaks • Select “Continuous” under section breaks • Continue to do that at each new header and SAVE when complete. • Go to the Review Tab and check Navigation Pane

You try it! • Right click on the Problem section and select demote • Select the Business Model section and drag it under the Opportunity section • You can drag sections as a whole anywhere in the document and all the pages in the section will move • This is great for collaborative documents
