  2. Kansas Educational Landscape • 286 school districts • Over 1600 schools – Private & Public • Includes large vs. small; urban vs. rural • Approximately 450,000 K-12 students • 37 Public IHEs; 28 Private & Independent IHEs Photo(s) are stock photos.

Background • 2005 – State Identifiers (SSID) were assigned for all PK-12 students • 2006 – Kansas Individual Data on Students (KIDS) student level data collection system was implemented • Assign and track SSIDs as students enter and move throughout the state • Collect and manage core student data (Master Data source for student demographics) Photo(s) are stock photos.

Background • 2007 – Kansas funded KSDE’s initial development of the Enterprise Data System (EDS) • included establishing a Data Warehouse with longitudinal, integrated, and time variant data across the PK-12 education enterprise • Through federal grants, KSDE has now expanded the EDS • incorporates postsecondary data • BI reporting solution to provide information back to education stakeholders: System for Education Enterprise in Kansas (SEEK) Photo(s) are stock photos.

High School Feedback Reports • Purpose - To inform and aid school and district policy and decision makers by providing information about high school graduates, including the number who matriculated to a postsecondary institution, while noting how well they performed compared to their peers from the district and the state as a whole.   10. High School Feedback Dashboards • Parameter selections: • Student Subgroup • ACT Subject Area • Postsecondary Enrollment ACT Scores – shows the average ACT scores by building with comparative values for district, state, and national averages.

High School Feedback Dashboards Postsecondary Enrollment Rates – lists the percentage of high school graduates who enrolled in a postsecondary institution by building, grouped by high school graduation year with comparative values for district, state, and national averages. • Parameter selections: • Time Elapsed until Enrollment in Postsecondary • Student Subgroup • Postsecondary Institution Location • Institution Type

  12. High School Feedback Dashboards Parameters selections: • High School graduation year Postsecondary Enrollment Locations – lists by relative frequency where high school graduates enroll for postsecondary education, grouped by high school graduation year.

High School Feedback Dashboards Postsecondary Retention Metrics – lists the percentage of high school graduates by building who enrolled in a public postsecondary institution in Kansas, grouped by high school graduation year, with comparative values for district and state averages. Parameters selections: • Student Subgroup • High School Graduation Year

High School Feedback Dashboards Postsecondary Remedial Coursework – lists the percentage of high school graduates who enrolled in remedial coursework at Kansas public postsecondary institutions. A subsection of this dashboard lists the passing rates for those students enrolled in remedial coursework. • Parameters selection: • Student Subgroup • Time Elapsed until Enrollment in Postsecondary • Remedial Subject Area
