Theories of action If the on-time graduation learning community (OTG-LC): • increases and distributes ownership of the students at risk of not graduating (on time or at all), and • frequently analyzes the data that illustrate students’ progress toward graduation, and • deploys interventions specific to individual student’s needs, • then other support members of the leadership team will more effectively: • mobilize resources and solutions on their students’ behalf; • offer strategic peer feedback; and • support and learn from the work , • and 4-year graduation rates will improve by 2% in 2015.
Theories of action • If school-based learning communities frequently and consistently unpack problems of practice, establish systems, set benchmarks, and monitor student progress at the local level: • then 4-year graduation rates will improve by 2% in 2015.
Structure and schedule of the work in 2014-15 • Summary • Five centralized benchmark meetings: all OTG-LC members attend • Twelve local meetings: all OTG-LC members attend • Two localized meetings in mid-spring (only OTG Director and Assoc./Asst. Superintendents attend with entire HS team (counselors, teacher leaders, success coordinators, etc.).
Meeting Structure Mapping out Success for 2014-2015 Purpose: To provide the larger OTG learning community with an update on progress to date regarding the countdown toward on-time graduation for FGY 2015
Meeting Structure Work session Purpose: To solve pressing and longstanding issues related to OTG processes and tools, for the ultimate purpose of improving efficiencies and effectiveness.
Meeting Structure On the horizon: Purpose: To forecast important upcoming events and coordinate logistics.
Round One Template • Mapping out Success for 2014-2015 (Principal, host HS; 30 min.) • Status update on FGY 2015 (and 5th year FGY 2014) • The view through the following lenses: • Attendance, Grades, ELL & SPED, Biology as ’15 grad requirement • Teacher leaders and counselors (interactive panel), e.g., • Instructional strategies; grading-for-learning • Systemic interventions • The view of students in the red from FGY ’16, ’17, ‘18 • Grad plan status • Tools used, e.g. Master Cohort Report • “Personalized Planning Meeting” • Challenges to date • Support needs from larger community • Host team’s reflection & takeaways
