Ageusia • A condition where a person has little to no sense of taste • Bitterness, sourness, and sweetness are particularly not tasted • It is a relatively rare condition
Most common causes • Damage to the lingual and glossopharyngeal nerves • Problems with the endocrine system • Vitamin deficiency
Congenital Analgesia • A condition where a person can’t feel physical pain • Temperature is not always felt • Sense of touch is normal
Causes/types • Mutations in genes • Hansen’s Disease • Insensitivity to pain • Indifference to pain
Life with CA • Can’t live a normal life • Can’t feel injuries like broken bones, cuts, burns(sometimes) • Have to go through a “check” of their body
Life without… Hearing Taste
Without Hearing/Pros • Other senses are stronger • Don’t have to listen to people you dislike • Can “speak” in sign language • Sleep peacefully
Without Hearing/Cons • Some people judge you • Cant enjoy music/movies • People can sneak up on you • Can’t get a good job
Without Taste/smell/Pros • You can eat just about anything(taste wise) • Can’t taste the bad things • Can’t smell bad things like smoke/flatulance
