Content Area: Science • Grade Level: 5th • Summary: The purpose of this power point so you can gain more knowledge about heredity. • Objective: Given the website students will be able to recognize what gene has been passed from parent to offspring by answering the questions on the powerpoint. • Standard: GLE 0507.4.1 Describe how genetic information is passed from parents to offspring during reproduction. • SPI 0507.4.1 Recognize that information is passed from parent to offspring during reproduction. • Accomplishment: Develop a sense what heredity is and able to recognize what gene is passed down to offspring.

What is heredity • Heredity is a characteristic that is passed down from parent to offspring during reproduction. • The characteristics does not always show up directly after birth some takes time. • The characteristics does always have to be physical. For example a lioness has two boy cubs one of the cubs could be a natural leader while the other cub could follow until he matures enough to take over his own pride.
