Animal Tissues – Nervous Tissue | NCERT Solutions for Class 9 Class 9 Science: Based on the structure of cells and their function, animal tissues are classified into four major types, they are, 1. Epithelial Tissue 2. Connective Tissue 3. Muscular Tissue 4. Nervous Tissue Here, we will talk about Nervous tissue. Nervous Tissue They are highly specialized for being stimulated and then transmitting the stimulus very rapidly from one place to another. Brain, spinal cord, nerves are made up of nervous tissue.
Nervous tissue contain unit cell called nerve cell or neurons. The impulses travel one neuron to another neuron. Structure of nerve cell 1) It consists of cell body which contains central nucleus and cytoplasm from which long thin hair like part arises called dendrons. 2) The axon is a single, long, cylindrical structure that conducts electrical impulses away from neuron’s cell body. 3) The dendrons further branches into dendrites. The cells of the nervous tissue are highly specialized and the cells of this tissue are called nerve cells or neurons. The Nervous tissue stimulates and transmits the stimulus very rapidly from one place to another within the body. The brain, spinal cord, and nerves are composed of the nervous tissue. A neuron consists of a cell body which comprises of nucleus and cytoplasm, from which long thin hair-like parts arise.
The neuron has a single long part, called the axon, which transmits the nerve impulse to body parts. The neuron has short, branched parts called dendrites. Many nerve fibers combine together by connective tissue and form a nerve. Nerve impulse enables animals to move rapidly in response to stimuli. Watch the interesting video on nervous tissue and learn its structure, and functions, Click CBSE Class 9 Science for demos. Nervous tissue is the tissue which works in coordinating with the organs of the body by generating impulses. It is made up of special cells called as neurons. Each neuron consists of a cell body, which contains a nucleus, cytoplasm, called cyton, and elongated hair-like extensions, called dendrites. One of the dendrites, called the axon, is very long. Nervous tissues are found in the brain, spinal cord, and nerves.
