(1) EA Education Programs for Undergraduate Term: 15Weeks (2) EA Education Programs for public officials Term: 3Hours (3) Cyber Environmental Education Programs Term: 6 Weeks Curriculum: 4 EA subjects of 14subjects (4) Cyber Environmental Education Programs Term: 16 Weeks Curriculum: 5 EA subjects of 11 subjects Environmental Planning & Assessment Centre, Yonsei University

  11. 5 EA Education Programmes 5.2 KAEIA KAEIA is providing a program for professionals who are already involved in EIA related work. (1) EIA Trust EIA Education(obligatory) Subject of education: EA professionals Term: 35Hours Subjects: EIA Regulations, Environmental Policy, Einvironmental Assessment Technique (2) EIA Manager Education(voluntarily) Subject of education: EA professionals and public officials Term: 3 Months Environmental Planning & Assessment Centre, Yonsei University

  12. 5 EA Education Programs 5.3 : Universities In Korea, there are about 160 Universities that are providing EA education. Anecdotally, about 80% of the EA related classes are held in Environmental Engineering Department. The other 20% include Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning.   17. 5 EA Education Programs 5.4 Ministry of Environment : EA Professional Engineer The Ministry of Environment is planning on establishing the Environmental assessment certificate system in 2011 or 2012. The test will include 5 topics: - Environmental policy - Environmental planning - EIA regulations - EIA legislation - EIA practice. Environmental Planning & Assessment Centre, Yonsei University

Summery • In Korea, EA includes EIA and PER but will be integrated into SEA soon. • As social interest on EA increases, demand for EA educational program • increases in the 1990’s as well. • The EA education is provided in various institutions in different ways • If the Environmental Impact Assessor regulation establishes, level of • education for EIA will be enhanced. • However, there are no studies that address the current EA education system. • EA education is not considered important and there is lack of experienced • professionals. • Therefore, there is a need to conduct a systemized survey to analyze the • current system and promote a sound EA master program. • As well, in order to increase the quality of the education, international • collaboration and researches are necessary.
