STEREOTYPE • Something that has a fixed form. Especially a kind of over simplified mental picture shared by many people. -Gage Canadian Dictionary • An assumption by many people. (i.e. Canadians live in igloos and have beavers as pets.) –Our definition.

Constructive Things About Stereotypes • 1) Stereotypes bring up conversation. Some funny conversations can be brought up when talking about stereotypes. • 2) It takes effort to think of stereotypes. Thinking gets your brain working. • 3) Some stereotypes are positive. (i.e. Canadians are great at hockey). • 4) They can build self confidence.
Destructive Things About Stereotypes • Can make people feel bad about who they are / what race, nationality they are. • Can waste a lot of time thinking of stereotypes. Can put that time to better use. • Can cause people to commit suicide if bugged to much • It takes away self confidence
