Why American? • Received a state grade of Afor the past two years • Nationally ranked in the top 3%by Newsweek Magazine • Only school in Florida to be recognized by the Federal ECTAC Committee • Named Do The Right Thing School of the Year for 2012 & 2013 • Ranked #4 in MDCPS as Best Sports Program by the Miami Herald • Graduated 80% of the Class of 2014 • Our graduates were accepted to Columbia University, John Hopkins University, Brown University, Georgia Tech, as wellas local and state universities.

Courses Offered at American • Honors classes beginning in 9th grade- All Subjects • CTE: Early Childhood Ed., Woodshop, Computer Technology • Cambridge: Pre-AICE Biology, AICE American History • Advance Placement: Calculus AB, Chemistry, English Language, English Literature, and Foreign Language • Dual Enrollment courses are offered on site in English 101 and 102, Astronomy, Meteorology, Principles of Business and Sports Administration

Asst., Computer Automated Designer, Photoshop, Autodesk Inventor, and Dreamweaver • AP/AICE/Dual Enrollment a student can graduate with a year of college completed free of charge! (2013-2014) 214 students took on-campus Dual Enrollment • American Senior High School has a tutorial program that consists of both faculty and student mentors

  7. Getting Ahead at American How can I apply for Honors, CTE, AP, AICE, or Dual Enrollment? • Grades (3.0 GPA or higher) • FCAT Scores (3 or higher) or comparable national examinations • Teacher recommendations • Students must maintain a 3.0 unweighted GPA
