2. Network ANetwork“provides a way to share information and move it along effectively and in a timely Manner” (Matthews, 2004). Text, Images, video and audio can be transported through the network if it is compliant with common industry standards. Internet, Intranets, and wireless technologies are used to meet statewide educational networks.

3. Networking Networking provides: • The internet access can be readily available • Makes public services available online • Increase in E-Commerce • Expanded access to education • Improved educational access due to the important role the network plays in the educational system Networking is “the ability to communicate electronically via the internet and is changing how people live and work everywhere” (Matthews, 2004).

4. Educational Networks • “Educational Networking is the use of social networking technologies for educational purposes” (Hargadon, 2011). • “ Educational Networking “is a secure, Internet-based tool for managing student data and assisting in providing effective instruction” (White & Winter, 2005). • Educational Networking can improve instruction. • Educational Networking “can assist teachers in planning student tasks based based on readiness, creating appropriate leveled centers or lessons, developing student interest groups based on knowledge or skills, creating interest based activities, providing various data organizers, structuring effective learning situations, and comparing results of assessments to determine strengths and weaknesses” (Thompson & Gould, 2005).

5. *There are many Educational Networks. The next slide is an example of two Educational networks. Educational Networking Many teachers use educational networking web 2.0 tools to connect, collaborate, and create using the internet. “Educational networking may, thus, prove crucial to teacher retention and recruitment strategies, especially those aimed at newly minted teachers, already used to social networking and its promise to continuous connection” (Hargadon, 2011). The core elements of states’ education and telecommunication infrastructures is educational networking. Educational Networking plays a key role in education by improving and expanding access to education.

7. NaMaYa NaMaYais considered a “one-stop-shop” network for a school’s online needs. It provides a secure educational network for teachers, students and parents. Students can take classes online. Teachers can obtain online lessons and courses and parents can check student’s grades, progress, contact teachers and educate themselves about the program.

Edutopia • Edutopia is a non-profit organization that was founded to make an effort to provide exemplary educational practices for grades K – 12 throughout the country through books, documentary films, Internet and various other media. • “Edutopia is an educational website and magazine that was created by filmmaker George Lucas after he founded the George Lucas Educational Foundation (GLEF) in 1991” (Porril, 2009). • GLEF uses digital media to document document, disseminate, and advocate for innovative and creative strategies to improve K – 12 learning process. • GLEF prepares students to thrive in their future education, careers, and adult lives. Educational Networks Impact on Professional Teaching Practices Educational Networking can have a significant impact on communication between the parents, teachers, and students. “The continued advancement of the Internet and the revolution in telecommunications technology and services have increased the potential for new and improved educational services” (Matthews, 2004). The impact of Educational Networks can impact a teachers data control of students’ information and that data can be compared, evaluated, and used to addressed each students’ instructional strengths and weaknesses. Teachers can access educational resources that are helpful and valuable in their professions with Educational Networks. Teachers can connect worldwide to create, communicate, and collaborate with other educators with the use of Educational Networks.
