Dissemination and Outreach is one of the key areas of the EGEE (“Enabling Grid for E-science”) project. • In order for the project to succeed, it is vital to proactively raise awareness of EGEE, attract interest and ultimately participation in the project from the academic community, business and government. • NA2 is the area of the project, dedicated to these activities. IHEP(Institute of High Energy Physics) - dissemination of EGEE results at scientific institutions of Ministry of Atomic Energy of Russian Federation; ITEP(Russian Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Physics) - partner for dissemination at scientific institutions of Ministry for Atomic Energy of Russian Federation; organization of showcases and presentations; IMPB RAS(Institute of Mathematical Problems of Biology of Russian Academy of Sciences) – operation of the dissemination Web site based on the existing Joint Center for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics. Involving other biological institutions in the EGEE-RDIG infrastructure; KIAM RAS(Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics of Russian Academy of Sciences Moscow) - leading partner for dissemination in the field of Computer Science and Applied Mathematics. Preparation of introductory and advanced documentation on architecture, common services and other basic GRID services. Translation of basic Grid technologies papers into Russian. NEC2005, Varna, T. PNPI(Petersburg Nuclear Physics Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences) - dissemination in St-Petersburg region, organization of presentations and showcases; RRC KI(Russian Research Centre "Kurchatov Institute") - operates the dissemination Web site in nuclear physics and energy research in Russia, organizes presentations and showcases; JINR(Joint Institute for Nuclear Research) - leading partner for CIS research centers involvement in the EGEE activities Operates the corresponding dissemination Web site, organizes presentations and showcases. Organizes RDIG-EGEE meetings and conferences on distributed computing in science and education in Russia and CIS countries; SINP MSU(Skobeltsyn Institute of Nuclear Physics of Moscow State University)- dissemination and outreach for Higher Education; Organizes RDIG-EGEE management meetings and conferences.   15. Conferences • The first major Grid conference in Russia, hosted by Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, has been hailed a success. The conference, distributed Computing and Grid-technologies in Science and Education, took place in Dubna, Russia, between 29 June and 2 July 2004, and attracted more than 200 participants from Russia, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Slovakia, Armenia, Germany, Czech Republic and Belarus.   16. The RDIG (Russian Data Intensive Grid)/EGEE workshop entitled “Creation of Grid-EGEE infrastructure for scientific research in Russia” was held in Protvino on January, 2005. 77 people from 15 organizations took part in the workshop.   28. Plans The dissemination of the basic knowledge on Grid concepts and underlying technologies appear to be one of the major tasks in to enroll and support new user communities. The materials on Grid middleware capabilities and the new potential, which EGEE offers for scientific researches, will be in the scope of the work. Plans To perform these tasks, we will: • Operate the bilingual dissemination Web-portal http://egee-rdig.ru • Support the Russian Grid Club Web site http://www.gridclub.ru/ for the dissemination of the basic knowledge on Grid concepts and underlying technologies. • Organize presentations and showcases for CIS countries and Russian meetings and conferences on Grid computing in science, education and industry. • Prepare and disseminate materials about Grid and EGEE infrastructure for the industrial partners in Russian.
