  1. Agricultural University of Tirana (AUT) • AUT (7 km far from Tirana center) is not only the unique center of university education in the area of agriculture, but also the first university center in Albania. It was established in November 1951. • Soon after the Bologna declaration, AUT started its academic restructuring and became part of several EU projects of academic reformation of East-Europian countries.

  2. By the end of 1990 AUT was composed of 4 faculties: • Agronomy • Agrarian Economics • Forestry • Veterinary Medicine With about 7 thousand students and about 500 academic and supporting staff.

  3. WHAT ARE THE SCIENTIFIC TOPICS : • Animal, animal production, selection, reproduction, nutrition, animal welfare, ruminants, no ruminants. • The students learned the fundamental and practical aspects of animal science with special emphasis on animal.

  4. Comprehensive information and discussion focuses on: • Biological principles of animal function and management. • Breeds, classification, consumer concerns, animal welfare, genetics, scientific selection, reproduction, growth and development, nutrition. • Appreciation of high-quality animal products-meat, milk, wool, and the use of horses for work and pleasure. • Provides advice on human resources and modern farming issues such as environmental concerns and animal welfare in discussion-oriented formats to foster group learning. • Marketing of animals and processing for their products

  6. This subject contents:- Origins of the cattle, breeds and evolution of modern production systems.- Production of milk and meat.- Breeding of cattle- Biology of the cattle.- Nutrition and feeding.- Housing environment and nutrient management.- Cattle production

  12. What must We do ? • Immediately, We have to change the strategy. • In the framework of this project, We are optimist, that the situation will be change. • The Marchigiana Cattle Breed is really, the best source for increasing of meat production.

  13. What is the role of university • To include in the academic program the knowledge and advantage about the Marchigiana Cattle. • To compile the selection and breeding programs for this cattle breed as well as other species. • To apply new technologies of nutrition and management of this breed. • To test these technologies on farm trials and prepare messages for extension service.
