  3. USA Track & Field New England The 2014 National Masters Indoor Track and Field Championship Returns “Home” to the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center March 14th - 16th, 2014 3

MEET HISTORY: • Since 1981 Boston has hosted 12 indoor championships. • 2014 will be the 13th time Boston has hosted the National Masters Championship. • The 2010 edition set a Boston record with 865 entries. • 2010's meet drew athletes from across the country and the globe including Brazil, Canada, UK, Australia, Bermuda and the Bahamas. 4

HOST ORGANIZATION cont’d: OTHER MAJOR EVENTS HOSTED OR ORGANIZED BY USATF-NE: • USA Masters Indoor T & F Champ’s. 1997–2004, 2006 - 2008 & 2010 • East Region Masters Outdoor T & F Championships • New England Indoor T & F Championships • USA Indoor National T & F Championships, 2003-2009 • National XC Championships in 84, 91, 95 & 2000 • World XC Championships in 1992 • National JO XC Championships in 1993 & 2005 • National 1 & 2 Hour RW Championships 5

CO-MEET DIRECTORS: Mike Travers Masters Track & Field Chair for USATF-NE, USATF Masters Site Selection Chair, Co-Meet Director 2008 & 2010 Steve Vaitones Long time Managing Director USATF-New England, Co-Meet Director for the National Masters Indoor Track & Field championships from 1998 through 2007, 2008 & 2010. 6

MEET MANAGEMENT cont’d: Additional management responsibilities will be provided by USATF-New England Board of Governors members and administrators, including: Steve Viegas President – USATF New England Dr. John Oleski Vice President – USATF New England Justin Kuo RW Chair (RW Referee & Webmaster, 1998/2000 NMIC) Stephen Peckiconis Treasurer – USATF New England Gary Snyder Chair – USATF Masters Committee and Past President & Current Secretary USATF New England 7

  8. OFFICIALS: USATF Regional and National level certified officials will officiate at the meet. Many officials have officiated at National level meets including U.S. Olympic Trials, and previous Masters Championships. VOLUNTEERS: Volunteer services will be provided by members of the Association’s clubs, local civic groups, Boys & Girls Clubs, individual USATF-NE members and several area high schools. 8

  9. FACILITY: The Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center,part of Roxbury Community College in Boston, opened in 1995 and is a state of the art athletics complex. It features a six lane, lightly banked 200 meter Mondo Super X track with an eight lane 60m straightaway. 9

FACILITY cont'd: • The track was resurfaced in 2009. • Additional upgrades scheduled before 2014 include: • 1st lane and infield resurfacing; • A new scoreboard with instant replay & slo-mo capability; • Advertisement opportunities; • 4 camera coverage; • A new audio system with 4 microphone speakers 10

FACILITY cont’d: The Masters Championship will utilize: • One weight circle (wood) • A second weight circle set up outside • Superweight (age 30-69) competition • 2 shot circles, throwing onto a synthetic surface • One cement circle • One wood circle • 2 long jump/triple jump pits • 2 high jump pits • One pole vault pit 11

FACILITY cont’d: • Reggie Lewis offers seating for 3,500 spectators • The gymnasium adjacent to the track can be used for: • Number and packet pick-up • Merchandise sales • Meet information • Results posting • The gymnasium provides an excellent warm-up area and location where athletes can obtain messages. 12

  13. TRANSPORTATION: Complimentary shuttle bus service will be provided between the meet hotel and the track on Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday. Limited transportation from the track to the airport will be available on Sunday afternoon at a modest fee. Luggage can be checked at the track on Sunday. • Logan Airport is minutes away • Amtrak train service is minutes away • Boston is central to major interstates & highways (I-90, I-95, I-93 & I-495) • Taxi, bus & commuter rail (T) readily available • Free parking at the Reggie Lewis Center 13

  14. HOST HOTEL: Doubletree Suites Soldiers Field Road Boston, MA $159 per night / single or double OTHER ACCOMMODATIONS: Other major hotel chains located in Downtown Boston and Seaport District less then 1.5 miles from the Reggie Lewis Center. Typical rates average $200 and up per night. 14
