Using VPS outside the walls of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit • Compare the bruising patterns of patients who were • involved in accidental trauma versus non-accidental • trauma. • Analyze the data and incorporate the results into • evidence based practice • Decrease the incidence of non-accidental trauma • through public education and awareness programs

Future • House Bill 285 mandates education about Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma • Pilot program instituted in all Norton Healthcare facilities June 1, 2010 • All pediatric residents rotate through the Pediatric Forensics Department • Monthly medical conference to review all non-accidental trauma admissions • Report to Trauma Performance Improvement Team monthly
