Purpose and Rationale for QEP SACS and Purpose and Rationale for QEP Demonstrates commitment to “…enhancement of the quality of higher education and to the proposition that student learning is at the heart the mission of all institutions of higher learning.” Definition is of “a carefully designed course of action that addresses a well-defined and focused topic or issue related to enhancing student learning.” Characteristics of an effective QEP include: Broad-based process in its issue development driven from institutional assessment Focus on student learning outcomes and/or learning environment within context of institutional mission Demonstration of institutional commitment for its successful life cycle Broad-based involvement of institutional constituencies Identification of goals and a plan for their assessment

    3. Purpose and Rationale for QEP Edison State College Purpose and Rationale for QEP Shared missions with SACS and renowned and high quality higher education institutions. Alignment with Edison State College’s mission “…to inspire learning; prepare a diverse population for creative and responsible participation in a global society; and serve as a leader for intellectual, economic, and cultural awareness in the community.” It is the right thing to do. How can we show that we do what we say we are doing? How can we demonstrate the moral imperative for education? How can we share and engender a passion and love for learning?
