Who am I? Here are 6 clues…. I was born in Sussex in 1954 I did very badly at school I failed my 11 plus and went to Secondary Modern School I remember a teacher bawling me out for doing a story in a way she hadn't ordered I eventually got job as a journalist with the local newspaper

Here are 6 clues… • I was born in Sussex in 1954 • I did very badly at school • I failed my 11 plus and went to Secondary Modern School • I remember a teacher bawling me out for doing a story in a way she hadn't ordered • I eventually got job as a journalist with the local newspaper • I had decided that I really wanted to write and that no other career would do. Guess me? More clues?

  2. 5 More Clues about me • I packed in the job as soon as I’d finished my training • Then I got on with writing my first book • For the next fifteen years, I wrote on and off, • When I was 30 I moved to Inner-city Bristol • Around which my first real book was written Guess me? More clues?

Even lots more clues….. • At about 35 I began to think it was time for me to really try hard to see if I could make writing work for me • I did short stories, radio drama, and children's fiction • The Cry of the Wolf, was short listed for the Carnegie medal.
