Some Things To Think About • The money raised in just two and a half days to help rescue Jessica McClure could have been used to save 67,500 children from curable diseases • Americans gave $1.54 billion for disaster relief for the 2004 tsunami in southeast Asia, which killed 220,000 and made millions homeless; however, we gave $6.5 billion the following year to those affected by Hurricane Katrina, which killed about 1,600 people and left far fewer homeless.
