Ancient Mesopotamia • Was just one God. These people were the ancestors of the Jewish people. Judaism, the Jewish religion, is based on the belief in on god are Cristianity and Islam.
Ancient Mesopotamia • First Governments • The Laws in the Code of Hammurabi covered almost every part of peoples lives. • There were laws about marriage,slavery,land,and prices. Some of the laws in the Code of Hammurabi were based on the idea of eye to eye. They said that a person who hurt someone else in a certain way would be punished in the same way.

Ancient Mesopotamia • Religion • Religion, or what a person believes about God or a set of gods, was an important part of life in Sumer.Enlil the gods of winds and rain, and Ea, the god of waters, were just 2 of their gods.
Ancient Egypt • A Strong Government • By about 3500 B.C. 2 large kingdoms had formed in Egypt. One began in southern Egypt, or Upper Egypt. The other began in Lower Egypt to the North. Together the 2 kingdoms were known as The 2 Lands.

Ancient Civilizations • Daily Life • Most Egyptians were farmers who lived near the Nile River.Their houses usually had 3 or 4 rooms. • The houses of wealthy Egyptians had as many as 30 rooms. Not all Egyptians farmed. Some worked for the government. Others were traders, artists, craftworkers, doctors, bakers, or weavers.
Ancient Egypt • Religion • As part of their religion, Egyptians believed in life after death. Egyptian kings were thought to travel after death to live with their sun god. The pyramids may have been built to help the dead kings reach the sun god.
Ancient India • Daily Life • Some small Indus Valley villages grew into large cities. Most cities had wide,straight streets. Lining the streets were many homes. Doors opened onto small back alleys rather than onto busy main streets. The cities also had shops,restaurants,storage,buildings,and government buildings.
Ancient India • Religion • In about 500 B.C. another religion appeared in India. The religion of Buddhism began with the ideas of a man who was called Buddha. Buddha believed that he found a way to end unhappiness. He spent his life teaching others to seek love,truth,knowledge,and a calm mind.
Ancient China Government In 221B.C. a new dynasty called The Qin took control of China. The Qin joined all the Chinese kingdoms together to form an empire. The leader of the Qin was Quin Shi Huangdi or, First Emperor of the Qin.
